MEMORY MARKER How can we transform this new hyper-individual virtual world into a hyper-collective world? Our project addresses this question through its presence as: • The memory and voice of a community; • Points of the city as urban acupuncture, healing separate city issues that heal the whole; • Collector of memories and amplifier of voices; • Liberator of stories, opinions, and emotions. And how do we put all these concepts/points into practice? Through the appropriation of public space as a consequent appropriation of affection and using the virtual space as a tool that amplifies the physical world. In our proposal, it is essential that each person feels responsible for this public space; we figured that the best way to achieve this is through stories that bring us closer as individuals and as a community.

And how do we put all these concepts/points into practice? Through the appropriation of public space as a consequent appropriation of affection and using the virtual space as a tool that amplifies the physical world. In our proposal, it is essential that each person feels responsible for this public space; we figured that the best way to achieve this is through stories that bring us closer as individuals and as a community. The project consists of a vertical, tall, and an illuminated structure called a marker, functioning as a monument that marks the space and distributes information. We can encourage storytelling between communities and small groups; distribute reports; connect different city points, or even promote the exchange of information between municipalities, states, or countries. At a contrasting scale, horizontal elements developed between panels, pillars, and cubes, sprawl on the city floor. They are devices with an open/multifunctional program and open the possibility of sitting, running, and listening to reports and stories. They are also timeless, interactive, flexible, and can host various events in space. The complete device positions itself on innumerable empty plots around the city. The same plots became obsolete during the Covid-19 pandemic and the consequent virtualization of services, businesses, and life itself. Its flexible modular structure adapts to each terrain’s specificities, transforming these spaces into dynamic and interactive places. The artificial intelligence embedded in the panels, pillars, and cubes, which is on the human scale, can listen, record, process, and reconstruct narratives. Therefore, the structure is capable of interacting, in a decentralized manner, with all users of the space. When people approach it, they soon realize that the colors of the structure change. The screens suggest searching for narratives by date, by person, or events. It becomes the window to everything that the community reveals itself to be.
